Protocol Considerations for Facilitators
This resource supports facilitators in leading equitable, purposeful conversations using a data analysis protocol. Originally created for use with a modified ATLAS protocol, it can be adapted for a variety of structured learning conversations. The tool offers practical guidance for anticipating and responding to common facilitation challenges so that all participants, especially the presenter, can fully engage. Facilitators can use it to prepare ahead of time by helping presenters clarify their learning goals, determine what data to share, and create a sense of psychological safety. During the conversation, it supports facilitators in noticing who is speaking, identifying the sources behind participants’ comments, and keeping the discussion focused on the presenter’s goals. Ultimately, this resource helps facilitators guide inclusive, learning-centered dialogue that supports both the presenter’s growth and the group’s collective understanding.
