Why Physics

“Physics was my most challenging, yet rewarding class. Physics both broke me, then made me feel invincible. It is that same gift of invincibility I try to pass on to my students.”

Professional Experience

Briana has taught science for the past nine years in Oakland, California. Her desire to make STEM accessible for her students broadened to creating worksheets and other resources for students nationwide. She published Physics4All labs, used in over 400 classes during the pandemic. Briana continued broadening access to STEM education by serving as Physics Education Technology’s Equity and Professional Development Specialist. Briana now continues to independently write curriculum and lead professional development workshops.

Volunteer Experience

During her junior year of college, Briana served as the Pre-Collegiate Chair for Region Six of the National Society of Black Engineers. As Pre-Collegiate Chair, she designed a series of interactive science, engineering, and computer science workshops for the annual K–12 conference.

Hobbies

Briana enjoys spartan races, spoken word, and dance.
