Teachers are facilitators. We help students reach their goals regardless of their circumstances. If students need pencils, we supply them. If students need a challenge, we challenge them. If students need love, we love them.”

Jessica’s Story

Teaching Discipline

Chemistry

Why Chemistry

“Chemistry is fun and hands on. There is no other classroom in the school where you can light something on fire on purpose and for education. Additionally, I have a passion for food and nutrition, and from a young age, I could be found reading food labels. As soon as I was able to make a connection between the nutrients on the labels to the elements on the periodic table, I was hooked. My favorite labs in class are the ones involving food and I think my students would agree.”

Professional Experience

Before beginning her teaching career, Jessica interned for a private military contractor in their research and development departments. She worked on formulating a ballistic resistant polymer used to make bullet-proof glass for military vehicles.

Jessica began her teaching career at Woodbury Junior-Senior High School during the 2017–2018 school year.
