Community, Inquiry, Leadership: Exploring Early-Career Opportunities that Support STEM Teacher Growth and Sustainability.
Beginning STEM teachers need a blend of content-rich professional community, pedagogical inquiry, and leadership from the classroom for growth and sustainability. A five-year teaching fellowship program supported these mutually reinforcing learning opportunities, building professional capital. This offers more powerful leverage for STEM teacher quality and retention than individual teacher development alone.
