Math is More than Just Numbers!

Math is more than just numbers! In her classroom, Knowles Teaching Tellow Jen Flonacher uses sewing and textiles to engage her students in mathematics. These lessons teach students the fundamentals of using a sewing machine to help them understand how math is incorporated in textile art and design. These lessons also help disrupt gender stereotypes associated with textiles and woodworking industries. The students love engaging with math in this different and fun way!
