Kelly’s Story

Teaching Discipline

Why Biology

“I find biology to be fascinating. As the study of life, biology is something with which every student can relate.”

Professional Experience

Through her work with the Cornell University Public Service Center, Kelly worked with middle and high school students, providing tutoring, academic and career counseling, and college planning to encourage students to pursue higher education and an interest in STEM fields.

As a Manufacturing Division Intern at Merck & Co., Inc., she supported day-to-day operations and facilitated departmental improvements in the sterile formulation, filling, and inspection of several vaccines.

Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Kelly worked in healthcare consulting as an analyst at CBPartners. In this role, she served global pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical clients by conducting primary and secondary research to solve issues surrounding value, market access, and launch strategy.

Kelly will begin her first year of teaching at Balboa High School during the 2021–2022 school year.

Volunteer Experience

Through Schools, Mentoring and Resource Team, Inc., Kelly worked as a College Achievement Program Tutor. In this role, she provided academic tutoring and emotional support to a ninth-grade scholar to help improve her understanding of biology and math concepts, while encouraging and assisting her pursuit of becoming a first-generation college student.

In her spare time, Kelly enjoys reading and watching movies.
