Diana Bonilla

When I was in college, I volunteered in an after school program for young kids, where I realized I may be interested in teaching science to youth. I took a few education courses, which lead me to discover a passion besides biology—connecting youth to science and supporting them throughout their high school careers as needed.”

Diana’s Story

Teaching Discipline

Biology

Why Biology

“Growing up, I would go to Mexico each year. I grew up around farmland, seeing chickens, dogs and cows walking loose in the streets, and how connected everyone seemed to be to nature. To me that was/is science. I love the simplicity and ease of people accepting nature around them, experimenting with ‘home remedies,’ and knowing about nutrition and the plants/crops that they grow. After feeling a strong connection to science in school, and taking more science courses in college, I feel that biology helps me learn more about my life and the way I want to live.”
