Professional Experience

As an undergraduate student, Stephanie spent three summers studying aquaporins in frogs

at Wright State University. She also worked as an animal care intern at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

After graduation, she spent one year working with AmeriCorps. Through AmeriCorps, Stephanie worked as an ESL and GED tutor for adults in Dayton, Ohio. The following year, she taught two ESL classes of her own.

Next, Stephanie relocated to participate in the Los Angeles Urban Teacher Residency. As part of the program, she taught two biology classes at Orthopaedic Medical Magnet High School while under the direction of a mentor teacher. During the 2015–2016 school year, she began teaching full time at Downtown Magnets High School.

While in Los Angeles, she also worked as a publications intern at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, where she wrote pieces for their member magazine and newsletter.

Volunteer Experience

While studying abroad in Quito, Ecuador, Stephanie volunteered for an organization called Proteccion Animal Ecuador (PAE). Through her work with PAE, she rescued dogs that had been hit by cars and cared for them while in transit to the PAE facility.


Stephanie enjoys camping, hiking, throwing pottery, calligraphy, gardening, singing, dancing, cooking, reading and hanging out with her two cats, Konrad and Millie.
