Karen’s Story

Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in geography from the University of Maryland, College Park. For more than 15 years, Karen has worked in the non-profit arena. Immediately following graduation, she went to work for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Goddard Space Center as a research assistant. Prior to joining Knowles, she spent several years at The Glaucoma Foundation, where she last served as the director of operations. In 2009, she joined the Knowles team as a program assistant. She was later promoted to program coordinator. In 2011, she transitioned to the role of research assistant. In this position, Karen was responsible for data collection and management. She also managed and coordinated internal and external research and evaluation activities. In early 2015, Karen took on a new role within the Foundation—data specialist. As data specialist, she manages all data associated with Fellows and creates new reports/views within our customer relationship management system. Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, Karen currently resides in Cherry Hill, N.J., with her husband, their son and their American Mastiff.
